Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko [aaua news] | Management warns Students against indecent dressing

The management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has cautioned fresh students against indecent dressing, adding that anyone caught culpable will be suspended from the University.

The warning was given at the four-day orientation programme organized by the AAUA Students' Affair Division, for the newly admitted students of the 2021/22 and 2022/2023 academic sessions. The institution's Registrar, Gbenga Arajulu announced a semester suspension penalty for an indecent dress in AAUA.

The orientation programme which started on Tuesday, at the 5,000 sitting-capacity Olusegun Obasanjo Multiple-Purpose Hall (OBJ) will end today, Thursday, 13th of April, 2023.

Olugbenga further precautioned the general students of the institution to avoid working against the management's decisions.

He said, "We have warned your senior colleagues, everything has changed, no one can go against the management's decisions. Necessity is the mother of invention."

He reiterated that it was the institution's duty to ensure students behave so that their purpose in school can be fulfilled.

According to him, there had been an entrance regulation that forbade indecent dressing.

"It is not a new implementation, it's already in force. Ignorance is not an excuse in law — that's why I said they should take note and more will still come."

Arajulu maintained that the habit of males wearing earrings, dread and dying hair, putting trousers below their waist and females exposing their sensitive parts will not be tolerated in AAUA.

He, however, said if students of the oldest University in Nigeria, the University of Ibadan (UI) can dress decently, then AAUA is no different.

"If they want to study, they will, but if they don't want to, we will send them out," he added.
