AAUA Decides: Students Union Electoral Committee disqualified Francophone and Adekunle

Ahead of the Students Union Election in Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko [AAUA], the Students Union Electoral Committee [SUEC] has disqualified two Aspirants on security reasons.

The disqualification was made known in the memo released yesterday, Friday 28, as the outcome of the screening Committee of the AAUA SUEC  2022/2023 Academic session, Chaired by Professor Olukayode Afolabi of the Social Sciences Faculty.

The two Aspirants disqualified are Comrade Seyifunmi Francis Adeosun popularly known as "Francophone", 400 level Law - an aspirant for AAUASU President and Comrade Folorunsho Adekunle popularly known as "Adekunle", 400 level, Political Science - an aspirant for AAUASU Welfare Director.

The duo were said to be disqualified because of pending cases they have with the AAUA disciplinary Committee a year ago. Recall that Students of Adekunle Ajasin University went to protest last year after that School introduced the policy of "No school fee, no Exam". Though, the School Management later canceled the policy to allow all Students write Exam, but the protest had already been initiated which the School Management said some properties were vandalized during the protest to warrant the Management to impose a compolsory Ten Thousand Naira [N10,000] reparation fee on all Students.

After the School resumed, it was confirmed by Daily News Report that the School Management hunted for some students who could possibly be involved in the Protest, of which the AAUASU President - Comrade Ogunsanmi Kolade [Multiple] reportedly submitted some names to the School Management, which most of those names were big Activists on Campus. 

Following the disqualification of Francophone, the presidency race is now between Comrade Adekanye Mayomi [INEC], 400 level from the department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts and his opponent - Comrade Fakaisi Micheal [Wolimike], 400 level, from the department of Mathematical, Faculty of Science.

In same vein, Adekunle's disqualification now allows Omole Ariyo Adekunle, 500 level from the department of fishery and aquaculture, Faculty of Agric Sciences be the only Candidate for the post of AAUASU Welfare Director.

The AAUASU Election is slated for Thursday, May 4. The Election is an electronic voting at the School's ICT Centre, with 13 Aspirants vying for various positions.
