Election: Ondo Political Candidates Sign Peace Pact

Ahead of the Saturday's State House of Assembly Election slated for March 18, political candidates in Ondo East and West local government area have signed Peace Pact today.

The event, which took place at the Palace of Osemawe was chaired by the representatives of Ondo Monarch - His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr Victor  Adesimbo  Kiladejo Jilo III CFR, and witnessed by notable Chiefs in the City, members of Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress, OEYC; House of Assembly candidates of various political parties, Party Leaders and Stakeholders.

The pact is to ensure that all political actors in the Election maintain peace before, during and after the Election. This is to allow Peace to reign in Ondo City.

According to the OEYC President, Engr. Kayode Folajogun, he said "Now that the house of assembly elections are only a few days away, we are here to witness the signing of the Peace Accord."

Kayode's statement was contained in a press release by the OEYC Public Relation Officer - Comrade Modimu Clement, “It is to commit assembly candidates and their party stakeholders to accept the outcome of the elections as long as it is adjudged to be free, fair, and credible."

Engineer Folajogun further encouraged the political parties to ensure that their supporters refrain from disseminating fake news, misinformation, disinformation and avoid statements that will incite violence in Ondo kingdom after the results of the election have been announced.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has fixed Saturday, 18th March, 2023 as the day for all Governorship and State Assembly Elections.
